More About Us
Charles served as a carpenter's apprentice during his high school years and developed a love of building. After high school, He joined the army and served two tours in Viet Nam, achieving the rank of Sergeant in only two years, including a battlefield promotion from General Kendell and becoming commander of a M60 tank. Upon returning to the U.S., Charles attended Tank Commander's School at Fort Hood, Texas, graduating as the top honor graduate.
Upon leaving the military, He returned to his interest in building, serving an apprenticeship under master carpenter Bernard Davis. In 1973, Charles joined the team of Tom and Susan Spain at Spain Construction, where he had an opportunity to master new home construction from start to completion, working on and supervising homes from $50,000 to over $750,000 in value. This provided an opportunity to master the art of special decorative stair building and traditional trim concepts and a thorough understanding of layout and design techniques. On occasion he has worked 80 hours a week to assure that jobs were completed by the contract date.
Charles has a good relationship with the subcontractors that have worked with him for over 30 years, and continues to use these subcontractors as he believes that they provide a high quality, competent level of service. He has passed the rigorous examination given by the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board and has received his Certified Builders license.
Sue has over 20 years administrative experience and offers expert support for the Company, overseeing the accounting and administrative processes.
Charles and Sue have raised their family in the Gainesville area and are personally invested in the community. They have great appreciation for the quality of life here, which offers opportunities for families, neighbors, and a good place for your home.
